Did You Know...

That you can put YouTube and Dailymotion videos in your posts? That's right! Whenever you open up the Advanced Editor, look up at your toolbar and find the video film icon. Click on this icon to drop down the address bar. Paste the URL of your video in the bar and then select "OK". The editor will instantly add the appropriate video tags around your address.

Example:

After you insert your video, center it on the post for nice formatting, and add your text to the post. This feature is very userful for awesome introductions to your roleplay. No knowledge of HTML is required as its all done through quick and easy BBC.

To increase loading times and make it friendly for your viewers, you can place sploiler tags around the video, to hide it.

Example:

Spoiler:

Note that some videos (primarily with YouTube) cannot be embedded upon request by the video's owner. So if you find a really awesome video that was posted by a company, then chances are you can't show it here. You can embed the video in the post, but it won't run.

Have fun using this neat tool!

Thanks for the info Rouge! This thread is gonna be stickied and renamed to "Handy forum tools". If anyone wants to add anything about stuff similar to what Rouge posted, they are welcome to do so here.

And about the video thing: As rouge says, use the spoiler tags "(spoiler)" and "(/spoiler)" (replace ( and ) with [ and ] respectively) to hide the videos to decrease loading time.

Forumotion.com is NOT vBulletin, even though the formatting is similar and the features can be made to look alike. However, for some, Forumotion can be a pain in the proverbial ass whenever trying to copy/paste something or what-not. I noticed that whenever a user on a another Forumotion forum tried to copy an article over, the text's format went all out of shape and ended up chopping his lines early rather than stretching them to the margin of the post.

I noticed that this was a similar issue whenever I launched the RAP forums, but it eventually went away due to what I thought was a simple update by our provider. But I was wrong, as we all tend to be on occasion. However, after doing some experimenting, I found out that it wasn't a providor error, nor was it a browser error. It was the WSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) Advanced Editor function. All of you have used this before, but the name may seem unfamiliar. To explain it simply: whenever you have that /A button on when typing your posts (in the tool bar) then whatever you type is instantly converted into what will be displayed, rather than making you type in all of that BBC for formatting and fine-tuning.

Apparently, the format likes to jack up whenever you copy/paste something (primarily text) with this editor tool enabled and then proceed to post. So, as a recommendation before making future posts, make sure that the WSIWYG button is turned OFF before posting if you have pasted something in your post from your clipboard. Otherwise, you'll screw up that entire format (but only the text that was pasted into the post; the rest of the publication [the stuff you inserted yourself] will be just fine).
