What are points?
Points are a combination of many factors - it can show you how active someone is on the forums, or how long they're been around. For example, you could surmise that someone with a large amount of points is a veteran, or is a very active member of the community. Consequently, someone with low points is either someone very new, or someone without a lot of posts.
How do I get points?
Points are gained based on several factors: * - How many posts the user has on the forums * - The number of thread topics created by the user * - The number of friends the user has * - How many Reputation points the user has * - How long the user has been a member of the forum * - The number of messages the user has on his/her profile
Reputation
What is Reputation? Looking above this, you already know that Reputation is a factor of the Points system, but what is it really? Reputation is a number which changed based on whether people think you made a 'good' or 'bad' post. You might want to give reputation to someone who makes an outstanding character sheet to a roleplay, or give negative rep to someone who posts Out of Character in the In Character thread. Please note that it is considered bad internet manners to give negative rep just because someone doesn't agree with you.
How do I get/give Reputation? Only other users can give you reputation
To give someone reputation, you can click on the plus or minus buttons on the right side of someone's post. The 'plus' sign will add one to their rep score, while the 'minus' sign will take away one from their rep score. You normally give 'rep' to someone who makes an outstanding post in a roleplay, or helps you out in some way, like helping you remember your favorite book's name. You give a negative rep to someone who rudely flames, spams, attacks you, or breaks forums rules. Again, it is bad manners to give negative rep to someone who you don't agree with, or has a different opinion from you.
The Thanks Button If you started a thread, you'll have the ability to use the "Thanks" button - it may be used once per thread, and it gives the poster three reputation. It could be used to congratulate someone who helped make the thread, answered a question wonderfully or something else.
Fin - Towards the Admins: I decided to post some sort of article, feel free to delete this or move it, or whatever. I just wanted to help a few people. | |
